“I won’t do it again,” Dante says, shaking his head.
Mia rolls her eyes but quickly puts on an innocent smile.
“This is the last time, Aria. After tonight, I’ll let you go back to your happy little marriage.”
I frown but force a weak, pathetic nod.
“Okay. I trust you.”
Mia looks at me with actual pity.
“Silly girl. What would you do without him?”
Without him, I’ll inherit everything he owns.
We get into Dante’s car.
My phone vibrates in my pocket.
A message from Victor pops up.
[I’m at the club. Where did they go?]
I quickly type back.
[I’m so sorry, Victor. Dante had too much to drink. I’m taking them to the Valenti Hotel so they can sober up. Meet us there.]
Dante speeds through the city.
We arrive at the hotel fifteen minutes later.
“We’re here,” Mia says, turning to me with a wicked smile. “Do you want to come up and watch? Maybe I’ll even let you try on my lingerie afterward.”
Dante shoots me a warning glare.
I ignore Mia’s taunts and look directly at Dante.
“I’ll wait for you in the lobby. But the staff here know me. I’ll get you checked in first.”
Mia scoffs.
“You really don’t have a spine.”
“What can I say? I just love him too much,” I reply with a bitter smile.
Dante sighs, obviously enjoying every second of it.
“Let’s go.”
I walk them to the elevators.
The moment the doors open, Mia throws her arms around Dante’s neck and presses herself against him.
I turn my head away, playing the heartbroken wife to perfection.
I wait until the digital display stops on the seventh floor.
Then I walk straight to the front desk.
“Can I have a spare key to Room 704?” I ask the receptionist politely. “My husband just went up, and I need a keycard for the elevator.”
The receptionist immediately hands me a spare card.
Just as my fingers close around the plastic, the heavy glass doors fly open.
Victor storms into the lobby.
Our eyes meet.
I let out a surprised gasp and smile warmly.
“Victor! You made it. Perfect timing. I just got an extra keycard.”
I sigh and shake my head helplessly.
“Dante and Mia just went upstairs together.”
I hold out the card.
“Let’s go get them.”
