The Wedding Game That Cost Him Everything Chapter 07

“What did you do?”

He was panicking, though he tried to keep his face a mask of calm.

Sloane waved her phone.

“Exactly what you think. I told Isolde.”

“Doesn’t that sound fun? Make her choose between you and her dead parents.”

She tapped at the screen with an absurdly long, manicured nail.

“I bet she’ll still choose you, just like before.”

“So what are you giving me this time? How about the penthouse next door?”

A wave of irritation washed over Tucker.

He glanced at her nails and found them grating.

Isolde never wore nails like that. Her fingers were always clean, her nails trimmed short, neat and professional.

He looked down at his message thread with Isolde.

He had been blocked.

After a moment’s hesitation, he called Chloe.

It wasn’t the first time Isolde had blocked him.

Every single time, Chloe had been the one to pass messages between them.

Thinking of the beach, he felt a rare flicker of guilt.

But all he got was a dial tone indicating the number was unreachable.

Only then did Tucker realize it.

Chloe had blocked him, too.

Isolde had once told him Chloe was the last bridge she would leave standing for him.

So no matter how ugly things had gotten between them before, Chloe had never blocked him.

Tucker’s hand shook so badly he nearly dropped his phone.

He knew perfectly well that if there was one thing Isolde would never tolerate, it was someone touching anything related to her parents.

Sloane was still talking beside him. “That penthouse next to your marital home is nice. Give me that one.”

Tucker looked at her, his voice cold.

“Why the hell would I give you anything? Who do you think you are?”
