We Were Once Called Losers Chapter 05
Four figures slowly walked in.
The man walking at the very front was my eldest brother, Alexander, an heir of wealthy families.
“Brother…” I couldn’t hold it back anymore, and my tears burst forth like a broken dam.
Alexander’s gaze swept over me and Julian.
Seeing my swollen cheeks and scraped hands, along with Julian lying unconscious by the strong magnetic display stand, his face darkened.
“You have a death wish.”
His subordinates immediately stepped forward, viciously smashing their rifle butts into the backs of the two bodyguards holding me down.
The bodyguards collapsed with agonizing screams, their spines shattered instantly.
Finally regaining my freedom, I scrambled and crawled toward Julian.
“Second Sister!
“Save him!
“Please, save him!”
The woman following behind Alexander was dressed in a white lab coat, carrying a silver first-aid kit in her hand.
She was the medical prodigy who could bring people back from the brink of death, Julian’s second sister, Eleanor.
“Chloe, step aside!”
Second Sister’s voice was calm and resolute.
She swiftly ripped open Julian’s shirt, revealing the already scorching pacemaker on his chest.
“The strong magnetic interference caused a short circuit in the device, triggering ventricular fibrillation!”
Her movements were a blur as she connected the external defibrillator and injected an epinephrine shot.
“Charge to two hundred joules!”
“Clear!”
Julian’s body jolted violently under the electric shock, then fell back heavily.
I knelt to the side, biting down hard on the back of my hand to keep myself from crying out loud.
Arleth finally snapped out of her shock.
Looking at the room full of armed men, instead of being afraid, she began to scream.
“Who are you people!
“How dare you touch someone from The Sterling Family in Seattle?
“Believe it or not, I’ll make sure none of you walk out of those doors alive!”
She turned her head to look at Justin.
“Justin!
“Call the police!
“Have all these trespassing terrorists arrested!”
Justin’s legs had already gone weak from terror.
He recognized the discreet black-and-gold insignia on the collar of Alexander’s trench coat.
That was the mark of The Rothschild Family — a symbol of someone you absolutely could not provoke!
“Ar… Arleth…” Justin’s voice trembled as he backed away repeatedly. “Stop talking…”
“What are you afraid of!” Arleth shoved him aside and pointed right at Alexander’s nose, cursing furiously.
“I don’t care who you are, you’re all dead today!
“The Sterling Family has hundreds of billions in assets in Seattle!
“With just one word, I can have you all…”
“Hundreds of billions?”
A mocking voice interrupted her.
The man standing to Alexander’s right was toying with a solid gold lighter in his hand.
He was the wealthiest man whose fortune rivaled nations, and also my second brother, Nathaniel Rothschild.
He gave a soft chuckle, took out his phone, and dialed a number.
“Hello, Lennox Jenkins.
“Within three minutes, I want all the capital chains of The Sterling Family in Seattle completely severed.
“Yes, short them across the board.
“No matter how much money it takes, I want the Sterling Group’s stocks to turn into wastepaper before dawn.”
He hung up the phone and looked at Arleth.
“Miss, how much did you say your family’s assets were worth again?”
Arleth froze for a moment, then let out a scoff.
“What kind of pompous fraud are you pretending to be?
“You think one phone call can bankrupt The Sterling Family?
“Who do you think you are?”
Right at that moment, Arleth’s phone suddenly started vibrating like crazy.
She answered it impatiently.
“Hello?
“Dad, what’s wrong?”
From the other end of the line came Arthur Sterling’s hysterical roar.
“You rebellious daughter!
“Who on earth did you provoke!
“The banks suddenly pulled our loans!
“All our partners canceled their contracts at the same time!
“Our stocks went straight down and hit the circuit breaker!
“The Sterling Family… The Sterling Family is finished!”
With a clatter, Arleth’s phone dropped to the floor.
Her eyes widened in sheer disbelief as she stared at the four people in front of her.
“Who… who exactly are you?”
