We Were Once Called Losers Chapter 06
“Who are we?”
The woman standing on the far left pushed up the glasses on the bridge of her nose.
She wore a sharply tailored business suit, holding a thick stack of documents in her hand.
This was the invincible queen of the legal world, Julian’s eldest sister, Victoria Vance.
She walked up to Arleth and slapped the documents right across her face.
“They are The Rothschild Family, and I am Victoria, the lead prosecuting attorney you will be facing.”
“The Vance Family?
“The… The Rothschild Family?”
Arleth’s legs gave out, and she slumped directly onto the ground.
The Vance Family and The Rothschild Family of the elite class.
They were the legendary top-tier wealthy families who had connections in both the underworld and legitimate businesses, possessed wealth rivaling a nation, and controlled the highest level of medical and legal resources.
She thought this was just a lie Chloe made up to show off.
Who could have imagined that these four people would actually descend upon Seattle in person, just to back her up?
“Impossible… this is impossible…” Arleth shook her head desperately, muttering to herself.
“She’s clearly a mistress!
“She seduced my husband!
“Even if you are The Rothschild Family, you can’t just be unreasonable!”
The eldest sister delivered a resounding backhand slap, sending Arleth sprawling to the floor.
“Reason with me?”
The eldest sister looked down at her coldly, her face full of disgust.
“First, my sister-in-law is the cherished little princess of The Vance-Rothschild Alliance. The assets under her name are enough to buy ten of The Sterling Family.
“Why would she need to seduce a live-in son-in-law who climbed the ladder by relying on women?
“Second, you committed illegal imprisonment, intentional injury, and snatched emergency medical equipment, leaving someone in critical condition.”
The eldest sister pointed at the documents on the floor.
“This evidence is enough to keep you doing time in there for the rest of your life.
“Third…” The eldest sister’s gaze shifted to Justin, who was shivering to the side.
“Justin, you tell me, did my sister actually seduce you?”
Justin shuddered violently.
He looked at the bodyguards locked onto him with infrared laser sights, and then at the completely terrified Arleth.
He knew he was completely finished.
To save himself, he knelt on the ground without hesitation.
“No!
“No!”
Justin began to kowtow frantically, cold sweat soaking through his shirt.
“I lied!
“Chloe doesn’t even know me!
“It was Arleth who insisted she was a mistress. I… I was afraid Arleth would find out the truth, so I just went along with it and framed Chloe!”
Arleth jerked her head up, staring at her husband in sheer disbelief.
“Justin!
“You bastard!
“What did you say?
“How dare you use me?
“Who is the real siren here!”
The eldest sister sneered, pulled a photo from the folder, and threw it in front of Arleth.
“Your father’s illegitimate daughter, who is also your younger sister, Ellie Sterling.
“You really are stupid. Her mother stole your mother’s husband, and now she has stolen yours.
“You dared to touch someone from The Rothschild Family based on a blurry photo of a back.
“Arleth, you are not only stupid, but also blind.”
Arleth stared at the clear frontal photo.
The woman in the picture was wearing the exact same haute couture dress as me, snuggled in Justin’s arms.
The truth was finally out.
All her arrogance and certainty turned into a complete joke at this moment.
She had single-handedly pushed The Sterling Family into the abyss, all for a live-in son-in-law who betrayed her!
“Ah!”
Arleth let out a devastating scream, lunging forward to strangle Justin.
“I’ll kill you!
“I’ll kill you, you animal!”
The two of them wrestled into a tangled mess on the floor.
My eldest brother watched this scene coldly, without a shred of sympathy.
He walked over to me, crouched down, and gently stroked my hair.
“Chloe, you must be terrified, right?”
His ruthless and cold eyes only ever revealed a hint of tenderness when he looked at me.
I shook my head, my gaze fixed tightly on my second sister and Julian.
“Brother, I’m fine.
“But Julian…”
My second sister, Eleanor, wiped the sweat from her forehead and let out a long sigh of relief.
“His heartbeat is back.
“He’s out of danger for now, but we need to head back to the elite class’s private hospital immediately for a full check-up.”
Hearing those words, my tense nerves finally relaxed.
I slumped onto the floor, gasping for air as tears welled up once again.
Julian slowly opened his eyes.
His gaze was still a bit unfocused, but the moment he saw me, he struggled to raise his hand and said in a voice so weak it was barely audible:
“…Don’t cry…”
He didn’t even realize he had just been at death’s door.
All he knew was that I was crying, and he needed to comfort me.
I held his hand tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.
“I won’t cry, Julian, let’s go home.”
My eldest brother stood up, looking at Arleth and Justin who were still wrestling on the floor.
“Take them away.
“Seattle won’t be needing The Sterling Family anymore.”
