We Were Once Called Losers Chapter 07

The news of The Sterling Family’s complete downfall spread throughout Seattle before dawn. The once imperious richest man had his assets wiped out overnight, left drowning in debt.

Arthur was taken away for investigation on suspicion of multiple economic crimes.

Meanwhile, Arleth and Justin were thrown directly into the most remote abandoned warehouse in Seattle by my brother’s men.

I didn’t follow my brothers and sisters back to the elite class; I wanted to settle this score personally.

The abandoned warehouse was filled with a musty, foul stench.

Arleth was tied to a chair, her hair disheveled and her cheeks swollen, completely stripped of the arrogance she once had as the daughter of Seattle’s richest man.

Justin was curled up in a corner, covered in bruises and wounds.

“Miss.”

I looked down at her condescendingly.

“Didn’t you say that in Seattle, even a life has a price tag?

“Now, what are you going to use to buy your own life?”

Arleth looked at me in terror, struggling desperately.

“Chloe!

“Let me go!

“I know I was wrong!

“It was all that animal Justin who tricked me!

“I was deceived!

“Please be the bigger person and let me go!”

I sneered.

“Deceived?

“How many times did I explain it to you?

“How many times did I beg you?

“When Julian was about to go into shock, you snatched his medicine and smashed his oxygen pump.

“Did you have even a shred of mercy then?”

I raised my hand sharply.

I slapped her across the face with all my might.

“This slap is for the blow Julian took.”

Another slap.

“And this slap is for the life-saving medicine you smashed.”

Arleth’s mouth bled from the beating, her tears and snot mixing together in a pathetic mess.

“Stop hitting me… please stop hitting me…”

I pulled my hand back and took out a wet wipe to clean my fingers.

“Even hitting you dirties my hands.”

I turned my head and looked at Justin in the corner.

Meeting my gaze, he shuddered in terror and crawled to my feet.

“Chloe!

“It’s all my fault!

“I shouldn’t have framed you to cover for Vanessa Blake!

“Please beg Millie Rothschild for mercy, spare my life!”

I kicked him away.

“Spare your life?

“Do you know that Julian’s heart defibrillator almost burned out his cardiac nerves due to strong magnetic interference?

“For your own selfish gain, you pushed an innocent person to death’s door.

“People like you are worse than dogs.”

Lillian Vance held a document in her hand and threw it in front of Justin.

“Justin, this is your indictment.

“Attempted murder, corporate embezzlement, and forging commercial bills.

“With all these charges combined, it’s enough for you to spend the rest of your life behind bars.

“As for your true love, Vanessa…” Lillian sneered coldly.

“She hooked up with a few bosses, got her legs broken by their wives, and is now lying in the hospital. She can barely save herself, so I doubt she’ll have time to visit you in prison.”

Justin collapsed completely onto the floor, his eyes hollow.

Arleth suddenly burst into a fit of maniacal laughter.

“Hahaha!

“Karma!

“It’s all karma!”

She laughed until tears came out, looking completely deranged.

“Send her to the psychiatric hospital.”

I said flatly.

“Since she thinks everyone else is a fool, let her stay with the real lunatics.

“Never let her out.”

Lillian nodded and waved for the bodyguards to drag them both away.

“Chloe, let’s go, it’s time to head back.

“Julian is awake and has been looking for you.”

Hearing the name Julian, all the coldness and hostility in me dissipated instantly. I took a deep breath, turned around, and walked out of the musty warehouse.

The sun was shining brightly outside.

A black private helicopter was already waiting in the clearing.

I quickly boarded the aircraft.

Next, I was going to see the most important person in my life.
