You Told Me To Walk So I Walked Right Out Of Your Lives Chapter 09
The two sides stood at a stalemate.
When they saw I still wouldn’t budge, they finally left the choice to me.
“Amaris, you decide.”
I gripped Miller’s hand tightly.
“Amaris, stop making a scene!”
Ronan stepped forward, trying to drag me over by force.
Miller twisted his arm behind his back and pinned him.
I stood behind Miller and watched it happen.
This time, I didn’t say a single word in Ronan’s defense.
Ronan looked at me in disbelief.
“Amaris…”
Miller didn’t waste another glance on them. She simply pulled me away.
I still had more than ten thousand dollars left.
I took out five thousand and tried to repay Miller for the medical bills.
She wouldn’t take a cent.
She made only one request.
Her nephew, who had terrible grades, needed a tutor.
I would tutor him, and in exchange, she would give me a place to stay.
Her nephew’s name was Leo. He went to my school, a grade below me.
So I returned to school, supervising his studies every day.
Life went on like that for a while.
Then, my parents called.
They wanted me to come home for dinner.
Sofia had been accepted to Penn State.
My mother’s voice sounded sincere.
“Amaris, we’ve had time to think, and we know we were wrong.”
“Sofia getting into college is a big deal. Let’s celebrate together as a family.”
“Let’s just put all this behind us.”
