Bound To The Wrong Mafia Boss Loved By The Right Golden Boy Chapter 08

The Chase

[Dominic’s POV]

That night, Dominic didn’t know how he left Rinaldi’s estate.

The rain was heavier than the first time. Colder. Every drop felt like a needle.

“Boss, the proposal surprise you set up for Miss Mira. Should we dismantle it?”

His driver asked carefully.

Dominic stared out the window. His face was gray. “Forget it. I can’t keep hurting her. My life… she’s the one who saved it after all.”

Years ago, abroad. He’d been drowning. Mira had jumped in and pulled him to shore.

The girl left quickly, but he remembered her silhouette. Something eerily familiar about it.

Wait. The silhouette.

His body went rigid. “Find out who pulled me from the water that day. Now.”

The driver blinked. He didn’t understand why Boss cared about something from so many years ago.

But he did as told.

“Boss, the girl who took you to the hospital left her phone number. After cross-referencing, the number belonged to Miss Valentina Sinclair at that time.”

“What did you say…”

He’d already suspected. But hearing it confirmed nearly broke him.

The girl at the gala. Her.

The girl who saved his life. Her.

And all those years, right in front of her face, he’d given every ounce of his heart to another woman.

“Cancel the proposal.” His eyes were red. “Find Valentina. Now.”

…

[Valentina’s POV]

Kieran was seeing me off at that moment. He held my hands tight before boarding.

“I’ll be back soon. If that man comes looking for you, don’t go with him.”

“Yes, yes, I know.”

“Don’t talk to him either. If you see him, call me. I’ll come straight back.”

“Okay, okay, I get it.”

“If he won’t leave you alone…”

“Enough.” I pushed him forward and waved. “I won’t go with him. Go.”

He left reluctantly.

But on the way home, someone grabbed me from behind.

Before I could react, I was locked in his arms. Tight. Desperate. “I’m sorry… I’m sorry… Valentina… I didn’t recognize you… I let you get hurt all those years…”

“Dominic?” I struggled against him.

He only held tighter. “Valentina… give me a chance to make it up to you. Please.”

“Have you forgotten I’m married?!” I shoved him off with everything I had, turned to leave, but he grabbed my wrist.

“I don’t care!” I turned. His eyes were rimmed red. “I don’t care if you’re married. I just want you back. I have the resources to make the Ashford family annul the marriage.”

“You?” I laughed out loud. “With what?”

His throat bobbed. “I’m not an orphan. I’m the sole heir to the Graves empire. I’m sorry, Valentina. I lied to you all these years.”

“I know.”

He froze. I continued. “I got used to being lied to by you a long time ago. Your identity hasn’t been a secret to me for a while now. But even if you were the richest man alive, I wouldn’t go back to you.”

He couldn’t believe it.

The Graves heir card was supposed to be his last play. The one thing that would make her reconsider. And she didn’t even blink.

…

[Dominic’s POV]

Dominic went home in a daze that night.

A dozen of his men were pulled into a room. His eyes were bloodshot. “Whoever gives me a plan that makes her come back, I’ll multiply your bonus tenfold.”

While his crew scrambled, Mira’s call came through: “Dom… I… I’m pregnant…”

“Pregnant?” Dominic thought he’d misheard. “But I never…”

“You did!” Mira was crying. “That night you were drunk, you held me, I couldn’t push you off, and then…”

She choked on a sob. “Are you going to abandon me?”

His phone slipped from his hand.

He vaguely recalled that drunken night. Blurry images. Someone in a bed with him.

He didn’t remember what happened. Only that when he woke, Mira was looking at him with flushed cheeks.

He’d assumed they just slept. But now…

“Dom, you’re not going to take responsibility?”

Her crying came through the cracked speaker.

He sank to the floor, hands clawing at his own hair.

Walk away from her… he couldn’t do that either.
