Godmother To His Son Then I Took His Kingdom Chapter 17

At Evelyn’s first court appearance, every charge and every piece of evidence was splashed across the media. The Cabots offered an enormous settlement in exchange for the charges being dropped; the prosecutors rejected it on the spot.

Graham didn’t stop trying, either.

The restraining order barred him from approaching Mara, so he bought the building next to her company. He made anonymous donations to her foundation through shell corporations. He had his lawyers transfer the Back Bay townhouse and a portion of the family trust into her name, no conditions attached.

After reviewing the documents, Mara gave her lawyer a single instruction.

“Return everything.”

The deed, the trust transfer papers, the anonymous donation records—all of it was sent back to Boston, unopened. Soon after, the foundation issued a public statement permanently refusing any funds from unidentified sources.

Her legal team also sent Graham’s lawyers a formal warning: using third-party gifts or property acquisitions constituted indirect contact. If he persisted, they would seek enforcement of the restraining order.

A few days later, Mara learned that one of her company’s major clients had suddenly changed its controlling ownership.

The buyer was a Whitmore subsidiary.

Graham thought that by becoming her client, he could keep funneling money to her without violating the order.

Mara terminated the contract on the spot.

The finance director rushed into her office. “If we cancel now, the penalty is three hundred thousand dollars. Losing this client could put the entire company’s cash flow at risk.”

Mara signed her name to the termination papers without a flicker of hesitation.

“Then we’ll pay it.”

She closed the file, each word precise.

“I would rather see this company go bankrupt than take a single dollar from the Whitmore family.”
