He Called Me A Stone And Chose Her Pearl Chapter 11
“You have the nerve to come back?”
Vanessa’s face was twisted with fury.
“You threw yourself at Nolan in the library, then disappeared for hours. God knows what other man you went off to see.”
My cheek burned.
The anger I had suppressed for years finally erupted. I raised my hand and slapped her back.
The sharp crack echoed through the room.
Vanessa stared at me, her eyes wide with shock.
Whenever we fought as children, my mother would always grab me first. Over time, I had learned to give in, to avoid confronting her.
But this time, I couldn’t.
I was about to strike her again when my mother threw herself in front of Vanessa.
“Stop it! She’s your sister! How can you raise a hand to her?”
My father’s voice boomed across the room.
“You promised you wouldn’t sabotage her marriage. Why did you go back on your word?”
“You publicly threw yourself at her fiancé. If word gets out, it won’t just be your reputation on the line—it will be ours in the Greenvale Pack!”
Mother clutched Vanessa and began to sob.
“If I had known you two would fight over a man like this, I never would have had twins.”
