Kill Him Nine Times Chapter 25

Before I could think it through, scattered applause reached my ears.

Very quickly, the applause was drowned out by laughter.

I opened my eyes.

The teacher standing beside me wore a neutral expression.

“This is Cosima Vale. She just transferred here from a public school. From now on, you’ll all be classmates.”

Laughter immediately broke out in the classroom.

“So we got a poor girl.”

“Look at her clothes—they’re stretched out of shape from being washed so much. Target, maybe?”

“Our uniforms alone cost a fortune. Can she even afford one?”

“I bet she’s here to find a rich boyfriend.”

Time had rolled back to the day Matteo and I first met.

The system had picked me and made me transfer schools to prepare for the task.

At my old high school, I had excellent grades, a full-ride scholarship, and an academic award every semester.

After transferring to this elite prep school, I could barely afford the tuition and quickly became a target for bullying.

But the system had been delighted.

“Isn’t this perfect? The more pitiful you are, the more he can play the hero. He’ll love you for it.”

I didn’t get love.

I got more and more bullying.

My grades suffered, too.

The teacher gestured to an empty seat.

“There’s a spot next to Matteo. Go sit there.”
