Three Years For His Fiancée Chapter 05
When news of Athena’s death reached Julian, he was holding Alexandra while watching cartoons.
Anthony sat upright beside them, glancing at Julian. “Dad, when will you hold me?”
Julian couldn’t help but laugh and quickly pulled Anthony into his arms as well.
Looking down at the twins, he somehow saw a trace of Athena in their faces.
Julian shook his head, finding the thought absurd.
Anthony and Alexandra were born from his sperm and Kimberly’s eggs—how could they resemble Athena?
His thoughts drifted, and he suddenly remembered the day he first met Athena.
When he heard Kimberly had found him a “kept woman,” his first reaction was to refuse.
The Reegan family had strict values—they would never allow him to have a mistress behind his wife’s back.
“Julian, listen to me.”
Kimberly raised an eyebrow, fiddling with her manicure.
“Your grandfather arranged our engagement. But I don’t love you, and I can’t ever get pregnant.
“I’ve looked into Athena—she’s smart yet naive. Once she gives birth to our children, I’ll send her away.”
Seeing Julian about to speak, she said casually, “I suggest you meet her first. Don’t rush to refuse.”
Sure enough, the moment Julian saw Athena, his emotions were swayed.
Kimberly really understood his preferences.
Athena was pure, unyielding, with a strong will to live. Julian was almost instantly drawn to her.
He let Athena stay by his side, and she remained there for ten years.
Meanwhile, he got engaged to Kimberly and gradually took control of the Reegan family.
At some point, Kimberly fell for him. And soon enough, she grew jealous of Athena—the woman she herself had introduced into his life.
She didn’t want Athena to bear his child and proposed turning her into a surrogate instead.
Julian agreed. He thought his life was slowly slipping out of control, and Athena was the only person—or thing—he could control.
Just then, the prison warden called.
For some reason, as he looked at the flashing caller ID on the screen, he felt like he had lost something.
“Mr. Reegan, Athena Brinsley is dead.”
Julian didn’t catch what he said and asked again, “What did you say?”
“Athena is dead.”
“Didn’t I tell you to watch over her?!” He roared at the top of his lungs, his expression terrifying enough to scare Anthony and Alexandra.
Meeting the twins’ frightened gazes, Julian picked up his phone and walked outside.
“Tell me everything from beginning to end!”
He gripped his phone tightly, unable to believe Athena was dead.
In his eyes, Athena was tougher than weeds.
Julian knew that the boldest and most foolish thing she had ever done was to fall in love with him.
Before he could understand the situation, his other phone rang.
“Bad news, Mr. Reegan! Your surrogacy arrangement with Ms. Ashton has been exposed!”
For some reason, hearing this made Julian feel relieved.
He knew Athena well enough. To him, this meant she wasn’t dead.
