Three Years For His Fiancée Chapter 06

Three Years For His Fiancée Chapter 06

I had no idea about the storm of scandals online surrounding Julian and Kimberly.

When I woke up, a month had already passed.

I struggled to move my fingers. After confirming that all my limbs were intact, I let out a slow breath of relief.

“Don’t worry, the doctors have already checked on you.

“Other than the tattoos, which require more time to be removed, you’ve made a proper recovery.”

Finneas Eisenberg’s calm voice echoed through the room.

I turned to meet his gaze, a smile forming on my lips. “Long time no see, Stripes.”

I called him by his nickname, and his cold face instantly brightened up. “Nina, how many times have I told you to stop calling me that?!”

He leaned closer to me and said, “My name is Finneas now.”

“Okay, Stripes.”

Finneas and I looked at each other and burst out laughing.

The unfamiliarity from ten years apart faded away at that moment.

Finneas and I both came from the countryside.

I got into Stanford University, while he was admitted to a military academy. Because we had no money for transport, we supported each other and left the countryside on foot.

After he sent me to college, he turned around and got into a car sent secretly for him.

Later, I learned that before he even graduated, Finneas had been recruited by a secret base as one of their top talents.

After five years in secrecy, he went overseas and became a mercenary, living on the edge of danger.

“You’ve lost weight, Nina.”

Finneas looked at my pale face, his eyes full of concern. “What have you been through the past ten years?”

With his abilities, there was no way he didn’t know. Still, he wanted to hear it from me.

I stayed silent for a long time. Only when my fingers brushed against the scar on my abdomen did I come back to myself.

Finneas noticed my movement and softly relayed the doctor’s instructions to me. “Don’t worry, the doctor said as long as you nourish yourself, the scar will go away.”

I nodded, not knowing where to begin. My voice echoed in fragments through the room, and by the time I finished, I realized my face was already soaked in tears.

“It’s okay, don’t cry.”

Finneas pulled me into his arms, patting my shoulder like he did when we were kids. “Athena, are you willing to live with me from now on?

“Just like how we used to ten years ago.”

I nodded and hesitantly wrapped my arms around him in return.

I was tired of living alone for the past ten years. Those so-called good days were nothing more than moving out of my college dorm into another empty shell.

Every day, I stayed at home, waiting for Julian to visit me—to spare me some of his time and affection.

I also wanted someone like family by my side, at least to get through those unbearable years.

With Finneas by my side, I began learning how to find my old self again.

Whenever he went out to work, he would bring me flowers from the florist.

My job was to arrange them in vases, water them, and watch them grow.

From time to time, Finneas would bring back ingredients from the countryside, blinking at me innocently as he told me about his cravings.

I followed recipes and made questionable dishes, yet he finished everything off his plate.

Those ten years seemed not to have affected us.

Whenever we were together, we were still our eighteen-year-old selves.

With Finneas, I felt seen, needed, and cared for.

It felt like I could finally see a bit of hope in finding myself again.
